Ryan Kennedy - Head coach
Ryan got his start in swimming as part of the Norristown Aquatic Club. His swimming career continued as a member of the Norristown High School swim team. Enjoying organized sports, Ryan entered Ursinus College majoring in Exercise and Sports Science. His course work included: nutrition, coaching courses, teaching courses, exercise physiology, anatomy and physiology. Ryan continued his swimming career at Ursinus College, swimming all fours years with his last two years as the elected captain of the team.
While at Ursinus College, Ryan worked for the Phoenixville YMCA, teaching swimming classes, guarding, and for the last two years as Head Guard and Leader of the Swim Camp. Ryan brings his swimming experience and strong education to the Phoenixville YMCA’s competitive swimming program.
Tracy Arnold-Merke
Tracy started swimming when she was 8 years old for the Polar Bear Swim Team, which later became the Philadelphia Department of Recreation (PDR); in April of 2007 “Pride” a feature film/movie was released about this swim team. Tracy swam throughout middle school and high school at a junior Olympic level. At Philadelphia High School for Girls she was on the Varsity Swim Team for four years and received the honor of “Athlete of the Week” and to date her 100 IM and 100 Backstroke School records have yet to be broken. Upon completion of high school Tracy received a swimming scholarship to Rider University; she is still listed in Rider’s record book as having one of the ten top performances of all times in the 100 & 200 breaststroke.
After attending Rider, Tracy continued her education at Temple University School of Radiology Technology. Currently, she works for Main Line Healthcare and Montgomery County Hospital and resides in Jeffersonville, Pa with her husband and children, Darius, Erin and Bailey, all who swim for the team.
Dan McGuigan
Dan began his competitive swimming career here at the Phoenixville YMCA in the fall of 1992. As a senior at Phoenixville High School, Dan was awarded the Jeff Kurtz Award from the Blue Wave Swim Team, and Senior Male Swimmer Award from the Tri County Summer Swim League. Dan moved on and attended Elizabethtown College and earned his degree in elementary education with a concentration in special education. He swam while attending Elizabethtown College and was team captain his junior and senior years. He is the recipient of 2008 MAC Conference Student Athlete Award (Men’s Swimming).
While in school Dan worked for the Phoenixville YMCA as a swim instructor, lifeguard and most recently as assistant coach for the Baker Park Swim Team. Dan is currently Personal Care Assistant (PCA) for a student with special needs at the Chester County Child and Career Development Center in Coatesville.
Kevin Fisher Kevin has been a competitive swimmer since he was 6 years old. He continues to compete in triathlons and other fund raising events. Kevin began helping with the Stroke and Turn at the YMCA about 4 months ago. He continued to work as a assistant coach for our Baker Park Swim Team over the summer. He is looking forward to helping the kids meet their swimming potential. |
