Together the Phoenixville Branch of the Freedom Valley YMCA and the Blue Wave Swim Team have a rich history of developing well rounded young athletes. The program consistently produces great kids, many of whom also excel in the pool. Our program welcomes both the first time competitive swimmers and budding national qualifiers!
We offer four competitive age group swimming programs during the course of the year. Our spring and fall Stroke and Turn clinics are instructional based programs focused on developing and perfecting proper technique in a fun learning atmosphere.
Our Baker Park Summer Program runs in June and July each year and is a great way to start your competitive swimming career in a fun family atmosphere. The team competes in the Tri County Summer Swim League and supplements its schedule with various fun and competitive invitational meets.
Our Winter Program begins on the first Monday in October and runs through late winter or early spring depending upon your appetite for competition. The team competes in the Penn Del Swim League, which is a Y/USA sanctioned swimming league. The league schedule is supplemented with a variety of invitational and United States Swimming sanctioned meets appropriate for swimmers of varying abilities. The season crescendos with a series of championship meets beginning with League Championships in February followed by a number of meets for which you must qualify including Districts, States and Nationals.
Registration for the Fall Stroke and Turn Clinic beginning September 7th is now open. Registration for the 2010-11 winter season begins on September 12th.
There will be a Blue Wave Open House in the pool at the Phoenixville Y on September 11th from 12-2. Bring your suit for a quick practice group evaluation.
